Pencils and erasers were for those who couldn’t get it right the first time! Having said that, I must admit that I LOVE a good mechanical pencil. Not the average garbage you get around town … sure, who could love the average mechanical pencil with sub-standard jaws that let the lead slip and gave you no tool with which to clear the jaws or barrel when a lead piece jammed? I’m talking about QUALITY equipment like the Koh-I-Noor Rapidomatic. Full disclosure – I made plenty of erasures. I still use my mechanical pencils and a Pentel Clic Eraser ZE22. But back in the day {dream transition music & visual effect} on my proper 36×84 drafting table with a Vemco V-Track drafting machine, Borco board covering, Bruning electric eraser with Faber Castell #75 Soft Green eraser refills and an Alvin erasing shield … [engineer drooling alert] – {snaps back to reality as drool hits the keyboard}. Ahem, Oh, and when Jeff commented on a pen his Grandfather had, well I just want to point out that the Grandfather in question was from the OTHER side of the family. The side that apparently was into sniffing markers.
